The Story of Umme Rabiya and a beggar is an Islamic and real story. Actually Umme Rabiya and a beggar is an real Incident, not a story. This story is like that; Umm Rabi’a was a very virtuous woman. She lived in Baghdad. Allah gave her great wealth. She was also married to a rich person. She says that I was sitting on the top terrace with my husband, he was very rich but also arrogant. One day, a beggar came to beg at the door. My husband looked out from the balcony and said, “Don’t give him anything. He is a shopkeeper. The Beggar is a worldly man. He is begging on purpose. I said, “I will not give you anything from your wealth. Allow me to give of what has come from my mother.” Hunsband of Umme Rabia said not to go to the beggar.
Divorce of Umme Rabiya:
The woman says that the beggar who was standing at the door looked like he was hungry for many days. The young man had a strange hunger on his face. When I closed the door, my husband was standing in front of me and said, “She is letting you go without my permission. I have had three divorces. The daughter of a respected father divorced and came home. My crime was that I had given charity in the way of Allah,” she says. My father was worried, I was very worried, my father and mother were also worried that where will the relationship come from, I was in severe distress for two years, then a relationship came with a rich man. I was divorced, but the relationship came with a virgin.
Beggar to Rich:
When the relationship ended, I went to my husband on the first day and he said to me, “Do you know who I am?” He cried because of me, I said no, then he said, I am the one who came to your door to take charity, you got divorced because of me, so I went that night and cried over the place of prayer. O Allah, the honest lady’s house was destroyed, then I worked for eighteen hours a day to honor you, and He said, “I will not make you a wife, but keep you as an empress/Queen, or I will do your job, then you are my beloved.”. One year has passed.” Allah also gave me a son.
One day, I was sitting on the roof with my husband. A beggar came to the door and my husband said, “If the beggar comes, you have to go and give charity himself.” I went to give it to the beggar at the door, then I screamed and fell down. My husband came running and asked what happened. I said you know who has come to beg. It is my old husband.
Moral:
From this incident, we get to learn this lesson that we should never be arrogant and proud of ourselves. Beacuse, Allah does not take even a moment to make a king a pauper and a pauper a king.
