Hazrat Umer Bin Abdul Aziz r.a

Introduction:

Hazrat Umer bin abdul aziz (Hazrat Omar (r.a))

Hazrat Omar (r.a) was the son of Hazrat Abdul Aziz(r.a) and his (r.a) mother was the granddaughter of Hazrat Umar bin Hattab (r.a). Umer Bin Abdul Aziz (r.a) were the fifth Caliph of Islam and his caliphate lasted for two and a half years. His reign was a just and honest caliphate, no one was poor during the reign of Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz. People were rich and religious. Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz was a just and austere king. During his time, no one was a zakat receiver, but everyone was a zakat giver. They were protectors of people’s wealth and honor.

When Hazrat Umar Bin Abdul Aziz RA became the ruler of the Umayyad Empire, Hazrat Umar Bin Abdul Aziz RA first deposited all his wealth in the government account and addressed his wife and said, “If you want to live with me, then deposit all your wealth and the jewels deposit in the government account. Otherwise, our paths are separate. Hazrat Fatimah, the wife of Hazrat Omer, deposited all the wealth and jewels in the government account. During Hazrat Omer r.a reign, there was no zakat receiver left, but all were zakat givers, yet Hazrat umar r.a used to cry at night so that no one among my people should sleep hungry and thirsty. When he did not become the ruler, he used to live with dignity, then when he became the ruler of the Umayyad Empire, he left dignity and worked for the welfare of the Muslim Ummah.

Protector of honor(Umer Bin Abdul Aziz)

A woman came to Umar bin Abdul Aziz who had five young daughters. Her husband had died. Everyone who went to her would welcome her, but this welcome was not for her, it was not for her poverty, her beautiful young daughters were dirty. I was a wise woman to look at and understood very quickly that it was difficult for me to protect the honor of my young daughters. So she came and knocked on the door of Umar bin Abdul Aziz (r.a). Someone had told that Umar bin Abdul Aziz is such a king that he is the protector of your life and property, he will help you. A woman opened the door and she went in.

A woman was washing the dishes. Thinking that, she was a servant, he made her sit under a tree and asked where Ameerul Momineen was. At that time, a man came in, whose clothes were wrinkled and had a lump on his shoulder. She took the lump and sat under a tree. The woman brought dry bread and vinegar. The woman thought she was a slave.

Amirul Momineen:

When they had finished eating, the same woman called out that Amirul Momineen has come as a guest. That woman says, I was surprised. I said to the maid that you are making fun of my poverty. So he said: By Allah, this is Amirul Momineen. When I approached her, she was so modest that she lowered her eyes and started saying, “How did you come?” I said these are my daughters, I am poor, widowed, I have nothing for them. He picked up the pen and wrote one thousand dinars for one year for one of my daughters. When he was writing, I kept thanking Allah and when I picked up the pen to write a dinar for the fifth daughter. I thanked Amirul Momineen, he put the pen back.

I wrote four thousand dinar for you, so you thanked Allah, this time you thanked me. On the Day of Resurrection, Allah will ask me that you did not write the thousand dinas for me. O Allah, what kind of a person is this? Umar bin Abdul Aziz said, “He is an ordinary person, but he is a slave of Muhammad (PBUH)

(الأموال لأبي عبيد : ٣٤١)

To the rightful, his right:

Imam Ibn Kathir, writes: “Umar bin Abdul Aziz tried his best to deliver his right to every rightful person during his short caliphate. During his time, he preached that where are the people stuck in debt? Where are the wedding parties? Where are the poor and the orphans? So that the needs of all of them are met.” (البداية والنهاية : ٢٢٠/٩)
